Pat Robertson's Regent University held a forum last week trying to lay out the conservative Christian strategy for 2008. The big news was that they should beware because Democrats would be making an appeal for Christian votes. Of course, the speakers said their followers should beware the Democrats.
But the most interesting paragraph was this one:
Darryl G. Hart of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute cautioned against reliance on the Bible in political debate. He said a growing number of young evangelicals are reading the Bible differently than their parents did, and are finding support in it for liberal stands on war, hunger and poverty.
I find it interesting that they are finding that the Bible doesn't support their narrow political agenda so they are "caution(ing) against reliance" on it.
I have said for a long time that the fundamentalists don't really believe the Bible; they just pick a few verses that support their political cause.
I thin Darryl was right - the Bible is a dangerous and liberal book!
